BuyIt Exchange connects buyers and sellers. We help people find each other, agree on terms, and securely exchange contact information once both sides commit and the seller pays the Match Fee. Payment for the item, pickup, or shipping is arranged directly between buyer and seller.

1. Browse items sellers have made available.
2. See something you want? Use Name Your Price to offer the item price you're willing to pay. Seller listings do not display an asking price, so the buyer makes the first price offer.
3. The seller can accept, decline, or counter once.
4. If the seller counters, the buyer can accept or decline.
5. Once terms are agreed, both sides commit.
6. The seller pays the Match Fee.
7. Contact information is released so the buyer and seller can complete item payment, pickup, or shipping directly. BuyIt Exchange does not process payment for the item.

Post What You Need

1. Post a Buying Request describing what you want and your preferences. Either set the price you’re willing to pay, or choose Open to offers and let sellers name their price first.
2. Sellers can find the request or be matched through eligible inventory.
3. Sellers make offers for items they represent as available.
4. Limited negotiation lets both sides work toward an agreement without endless haggling.
5. Once terms are agreed, both sides commit.
6. The seller pays the Match Fee.
7. Contact information is released.

List an Item

Skip the asking price. List your item and see what buyers are willing to offer — you may get more than you expected. When a buyer names a price, you can accept, decline, or counter once.

Choose Show to buyers to make the item publicly browsable. Choose Match only to keep it private while still allowing it to be considered for eligible Buying Requests.

Browse Buyer Requests

Find people already looking for something you may have, then submit an offer based on their Buying Request. Limited negotiation keeps the process simple. If terms are agreed, both sides commit, and the seller pays the Match Fee before contact information is released.

BuyIt Exchange is intentionally not an endless negotiation thread. For a seller-listed item: buyer names a price → seller accepts, declines, or counters once → buyer accepts or declines.

For a Buying Request, the seller makes the offer, the buyer may counter once, and the seller may make one final counter. The buyer then accepts or declines. When both sides agree, the terms are locked and can no longer be changed.

Once terms are agreed, the buyer commits first. The seller then has a limited window to commit or decline, and the deadline is shown on screen. Either side can end the deal before the seller commits. While a commitment is active, the transaction terms are locked.

The seller pays a Match Fee equal to 3% of the agreed item price, with a minimum of $2.99 and a maximum of $29.99. The exact fee is displayed before the seller commits.

Shipping cost is not included in the fee calculation. Browsing, posting, and making an offer are free. The Match Fee is charged only after both parties commit and pays for the match and release of contact information—not for the item itself.

Your display name, city, and state are public. Your email address and phone number stay private. They are released only to the other party in the deal, and only after both parties commit and the seller's Match Fee payment is confirmed. At that point the transaction is complete on BuyIt Exchange. BuyIt Exchange does not process the item purchase; payment for the item is handled directly between buyer and seller.

Once a transaction reaches the verified fee-paid state, the buyer and the seller may each leave one review of the other. Reviews use a one-to-five-star rating; ratings of one to three stars require a comment of at least 25 meaningful characters, and comments are limited to 1,000 characters. A review cannot be edited after it is submitted.

Reviews are published blind: both reviews become public once both participants submit, or the first review becomes public seven days after it was submitted if the other participant does not review. Published reviews show the reviewer's display name and whether they took part as the buyer or the seller. Review eligibility is tied to the completed and fee-paid record on BuyIt Exchange; we do not verify that the private item transaction was completed. An average rating appears on a public member profile only after three or more published reviews.
